January 1, 2012

Everybody that has to work for a living starts their day with one of these an alarm clock. Does it get you up on time? Do you instantly get up and start your day on the first buzz or do you Snooze til you loose? Here are 3 of the best techniques I use every morning to get myself out of a trance and get going!

1. Loud and Awful Music

Self Control is Key to Changing Your Life

Galatians. 5:22-23: But the fruit of the spirit is love,

joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,

gentleness and self control.

Self-Control is Key to Changing Your Life

Loud Alarm Clock

For me, the hardest part of trying to make changes in ones life is that little thing that we call self-control.

Self Control is Key to Changing Your Life

Ever made the decision to start exercising? You get all excited about it. You set the alarm clock to get up early the next morning so you can exercise 45 minutes before starting your day. The alarm clock goes off and what happens? You hit the snooze button. Aw, forget exercising. What were you thinking? The bed feels too good. You are simply too tired to get up. You will have to start another day.

Graduation Gifts – 10 Affordable Gift Ideas For 2009 Seniors

December 12, 2011

Do you have a friend or family member graduating this year?  Then chances are you're wondering what gifts appeal to a teenage kid (oops that is a young adult) and still meet the hip factor.

We've talked to quite a few seniors this year, including our own college bound daughter. Of course the car and laptop are familiar big-ticket requests but here are ten grad gifts that won't break the bank and still make the wish list:

#10.  Flash Drive - The memory stick or flash drive is a convenient and fast way to backup and swap files.  Most are USB devices compatible with computers, cameras, printers, and more.  They come in a variety of sizes and brands ranging in price from .95 for 2GB to 0 and up for 64GB.

#9.  Quality Head Phones - Every teen is plugged into music and frequently in need of extra headphones.  Prices range from the simple ear buds to 9 for the high quality noise canceling headphones that work especially well with loud roommates.

#8.  Walk Down Memory Lane - Sure they will be making lots of new memories but they will still get homesick for the familiar.  Put together a collection of memories using photos of friends, families, and special events.  This can be a simple wall frame photo collage, a scrapbook project, digital photo frame, or even a DVD made with slide show or movie software.

#7.  Dorm Accessories - The ads are filled with dorm ideas but the hands down favorite is the combo alarm clock, stereo, and docking station offered by iHome and others.  Select one with great speakers and a battery backup for the alarm.

#6.  Survival Items - Fill a gift bag or basket with the essential items someone just starting to live on their own might need.  This can include first aid, personal care, laundry, or general household items. This is a chance to be practical as well as humorous. Including several packages of Top Ramon is a tradition in our family.  A simple note indicating, "Get used to eating a lot of this," usually generates a laugh.  The few that look puzzled return on the next break saying, "Now I get it and that came in handy!"

#5. Digital Camera - A quality yet small sized digital camera is a must have to capture and share all the new experiences.  Look for something with at least 8 plus mega pixels and small enough to fit in a pocket.  We've happily owned the Sony Cybershot for almost 8 years and recently bought our grad the newer DSC W220 model with HD video for about 9.

#4.  College Insignia - If the graduate is heading off to college they will enjoy sporting their school mascot on everything from sweatshirts, sweats, jackets, hats, sporting events, and desk accessories.

#3.  Gift Cards - The gift card is always a great option especially when mailing presents.  Gas cards, Visa gift cards, restaurant chains, favorite clothing stores, movie theatres, iTunes, Target, and Office Depot are popular and practical choices.  Just watch the fees to activate and terms of use.

#2.  All Things Apple - When it comes to music and technology all things Apple are in demand.  The iPod Touch, available from 9, is a big hit for all its cool features including music, games, photos, videos, wifi access, and more!  There is also the iPhone 3g that starts at 9 plus monthly cell phone charges. If it's just the music they want there is the iPod Shuffle, Nano, or Classic starting at and up.

#1. Cold Hard Cash - Every grad questioned on gift requests smiled big and answered, "Cash!"  When asked for a few more ideas several responded, "Cash, cash, and more cash."  If you think nothing stays the same think again.  The crisp greenback tucked inside a card is still the top graduation gift!

December 8, 2011

Could you use a phone with a built in clock? It sounds pretty cool. Instead of a traditional phone and alarm clock, an clock with phone may be just what you need.

For convenience and versatility, there are numerous cordless phone models that include an alarm clock function. A cordless phone alarm clock combo gives you all the benefits of a typical cordless telephone. It features a wireless phone with a wide frequency that allows you to talk anywhere in your home. The telephone and base also have typical phone features like an LED show, caller ID and an answering machine. The bonus benefit is that you can also set up a traditional clock alarm.

Bed Shaking Alarm Clock – Why You Need One

December 6, 2011

The bed shaking alarm clock is for the heavy sleeper who regularly sleeps through an ordinary alarm clock. It is possible to be so heavily asleep that you can sleep through an alarm clock which makes just an ordinary sound. I know, because I have done it many times. So that is not enough to help this category of sleeper.

Acronyms As Reminders For Empowerment

December 3, 2011

Some people create vision boards to engage the universe in a conversation about their desires and needs. These boards will include pictures, words and phrasings of their desires. Others use journals to write down their goals and use the entries as updates and follow-ups to appointments and any event or relationship related to this goal. And then there are those who use acronyms, letters that represent a statement of desires and needs that one is trying to achieve.
